Information We Collect
When you choose to subscribe, the site opens the Cited Authorities publication on Substack. Substack manages free and paid subscriptions, payment processing, email delivery. We do not sell or rent your email address.
Subscription Service
Substack processes subscriptions and paid memberships on our behalf. Substack may process your email address, payment information, and information about your interaction with its pages and emails under Substack's privacy policy. You can unsubscribe or manage a paid membership through Substack.
Embedded Content
LinkedIn posts do not load automatically. If you choose "Load LinkedIn post," your browser connects directly to LinkedIn, which may set cookies or collect information about your visit under LinkedIn's privacy policy. We do not control or have access to information LinkedIn collects through an embedded post.
The homepage, subscribe page, and episode pages also embed the Cited Authorities subscribe form in an iframe from citedauthorities.substack.com/embed. These embeds load automatically, with no click required, so your browser connects to Substack when an embed appears on your screen, and Substack may receive standard request information, such as your IP address. That connection happens whether or not you ever subscribe and is covered by Substack's privacy policy.
Episode audio is click-to-load. Episode pages show a "Listen to This Episode" placeholder, and the Buzzsprout audio player loads only after you click it. Your browser does not connect to Buzzsprout for audio until then.
Browser Storage
We use limited browser storage to remember newsletter-prompt choices, such as whether you dismissed the prompt or started a subscription. We do not use this storage for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Plausible tracks aggregate page views, traffic sources, and clicks on the site's subscribe and join buttons (which button was clicked, never who clicked it) without identifying individual visitors.
